In Vitro Fertilization

Reproduction in an unnatural successful way

IVF or in vitro fertilization, it is the most effective assisted reproductive technology that helps a woman to become pregnant. The procedure involves by fertilizing an egg outside the body which may be in a laboratory dish. Afterwards it is implanted in a woman’s uterus. The fertilized egg or zygote is cultured for two to six days in a growth medium that helps in establishing a successful pregnancy. IVF is applied to different types of situations.

Assisted reproductive technology is used for the treatment of infertility.

It is also employed in the gestational surrogacy, in which the fertilized egg is implanted into the surrogate’s uterus.

Since its inception IVF has been involved in a lot of moral controversy, with every argument made against the procedure. The process helps the infertile couples who have no other choice but to come to the end of the line of IVF. Also it has helped certain scientists that by studying the fertilization and early embryonic development outside the womb to prevent certain birth defects.
For the arguments against IVF there were a number of reasons for not going ahead it, like what if babies were born with terminal illnesses. Another reason was that it would lead to the end of a nuclear family. Some of them believe that test tube babies would be socially ostracized. Moreover the most important argument against IVF was that it was unnatural, that “the Lord’s work was taken by their own hands” which replaces the divinely way of making a life in response to a technological process.

But shunning all these arguments, thousand converted to lakhs to crores, test tube babies are born nowadays and IVF produces a very outcome which is a mother, a father and a child.
